Topsoe's Tokyo representative office was established in 1968 to cover the Japanese market.

The office serves the following objectives:

• technical service for customers of Topsoe catalysts and technologies, including ammonia, methanol, hydrogen, synthesis gas, sulphuric acid, formaldehyde, hydroprocessing and environmental protection
• sales promotion of Topsoe catalysts and technologies as mentioned above
• coordination between Topsoe, Denmark and Japanese engineering contractors to implement projects based on Topsoe technologies
• introduction of newly developed and established technologies
• coordination with Japanese trading companies for the catalyst sales in the area as well as for implementation of various projects
• maintaining contact with governmental and private financial institutions for various projects mainly outside the area
