SCR DeNOx
Topsoe’s SCR DeNOx catalyst for diesel engines removes harmful nitrogen oxides – NOx – from diesel vehicles’ exhaust. The catalyst converts NOx into water vapour and harmless nitrogen. 80% of the air we breathe consists of nitrogen.
Where is the SCR DeNOX technology used?
Topsoe’s SCR DeNOX is used in large diesel driven vehicles: Trucks, busses and working equipment such as bulldozers, tractors, excavators and other off roaders. Since 2006 more than 100,000 heavy trucks and busses have been equipped with Topsoe’s SCR catalysts and technology.
SCR DeNox and the environment
NOx particulates cause acid rain as well as formation of smog and are harmful to health and buildings. New legislation – Euro 6 – requires a further reduction in emissions of nitrogen oxides and particulate matters from trucks, heavy working equipment and buses. With Topsoe’s automotive SCR DeNOX catalyst reduction in NOx requirements are met.
Topsoe’s SCR technology for the automotive industry has reduced the emission of NOx with more than 1.5 million tonnes since 2006. Due to the better fuel efficiency of the SCR technology, Topsoe’s catalysts have saved the atmosphere from 2 million tonnes of CO2 since 2006.
Case: Emission savings from one long-haul heavy truck
A typical long-haul heavy truck runs 250,000 km per year. With Topsoe’s SCR technology installed, the environment will be saved from 5 tonnes NOx and 8 tonnes of CO2 per year.
