Topsoe has researched the production and applications of dimethyl ether (DME) for decades, accumulating a solid knowledge base for development and implementation of DME technologies.

Today DME is primarily used as a substitute for LPG gas, and DME is also a potential alternative diesel fuel.

DME is a clean and environmentally friendly fuel which

  • is completely sootless 
  • reduces NOx with 90% 
  • completely sulphur free

  • DME can be produced from methanol as well as hydrocarbon feed

Topsoe's in-house developed DK-500 catalyst ensures high catalytic activity and selectivity in the DME synthesis reaction.
