Topsoe to supply a Spent Sulphuric Acid Regeneration Plant for Petrom, Romania

SK Engineering & Construction, Korea, have signed a contract with Topsoe concerning the supply of engineering, catalyst, equipment, materials and site supervision for a spent sulphuric acid regeneration plant for Petrom's Petrobrazi Refinery in Romania. The plant is going to process approx. 100 T/D of spent sulphuric acid from an alkylation plant, and it is planned to go on stream in 2006. Also a three-party License and Basic Design Agreement between Petrom, SK Engineering & Construction and Topsoe has been signed.

With this new contract, the number of spent sulphuric acid regeneration plants based on Topsoe's Wet gas Sulphuric Acid (WSA) technology has increased to nine, with five in operation and four in various stages of design, procurement and construction.
