Haldor Topsoe A/S has recently been awarded two contracts in P.R. China for methanol synthesis loop technology. The contract includes supply of license, engineering, catalysts and critical equipment. Both of the methanol synthesis loops will be incorporated in new major grassroots methanol plant projects.

The first project is a new 1,000 MTPD methanol plant for Petrochina’s Golmud Oil Refinery, located in the Qinghai Province. The plant will be based on steam reforming of natural gas. Golmud Oil Refinery is currently operating a 300 MTPD methanol plant. The new methanol plant is scheduled for start-up in 2006.

The second project is a new 1,500 MTPD methanol plant for Zhongyuan Dahua Group Ltd, located in Puyang in the Henan Province. The synthesis gas for this new methanol plant will come from a new coal gasification plant. Start-up of the methanol plant will take place in the first half of 2007.
