Topsøe’s low energy ammonia technology has been selected for the 2,000 MTPD ammonia plant in the ammonia/urea complex to be build by Sohar International Urea & Chemicals Industries, SOAC at Sohar Industrial Area. The plant will be situated approximately 260 kilometres northwest of Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman.

Topsøe will supply technology, license, engineering services and catalysts, and will guarantee the performance of the ammonia plant. The fertilizer complex will be constructed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Japan. Technology for the 3,500 MTPD Urea plant will be supplied by Snamprogetti S.p.A., Italy.

“We are most pleased that Topsøe’s ammonia technology has been selected again for the second world-scale fertilizer complex in Oman. We feel that the selection underlines the competitiveness of Topsøe’s ammonia technology for the new large-scale ammonia plants being contracted around the world in these years” says Peter Søgaard-Andersen, Director of Marketing and Sales, Technology Division of Haldor Topsøe A/S.

The first large-scale fertilizer complex in Oman based on Topsøe Ammonia Technology is the OMIFCO project which is presently under commissioning.
