Breakthrough for Haldor Topsoe DME Technology in China
10-01-2007
Haldor Topsoe has been selected to supply DME technology for two plants in China. Both plants will serve the domestic Chinese fuel market and are expected to come on stream in 2009.
· A 180,000 t/y DME unit for Guizhou Tianfu Chemical Co. Ltd. will be built at Machangping Fuquan, Guizhou Province. This new coal based petrochemical complex also comprises production units for methanol and ammonia, all using Topsoe technology. Raw methanol from the new methanol plant will be used as feed for the DME plant.
· The second plant is a 167,000 t/y DME plant to be built for Yunnan Riches Chemical Industry Co. Ltd. in Yunnan Province. Besides the DME technology, Topsoe also supplies its sulphuric acid (WSA) technology for this project.
“We are very pleased with obtaining these contracts” says Mr. Peter Christensen, Manager, Ammonia & Petrochemical Technology Sales Group, and continues: “Our strong commitment to the DME area since the early 1980s and our ability to provide both technology and catalysts for DME and methanol synthesis have given us a technological edge and enable us to give our customers added value. Our technical solution has low investment cost, low operating cost and high energy efficiency.”
“We see great potential for DME as a clean alternative fuel and are pleased to contribute to China taking the lead in the DME market in substituting LPG for house cooking” says Mr. Jørgen Nergaard Gøl, Director, Marketing and Sales, at Haldor Topsoe.
