Denmark's Minister for the Environment Troels Lund Poulsen tests Topsoe’s new diesel emission control system
Topsoe has introduced a new HEAT SCR system which removes particles and NOx gasses from diesel vehicles’ emission.
Minister for the Environment Troels Lund Poulsen was the first to test the new system in Topsoe’s engine laboratory.
Ready for Euro VIThe HEAT SCR system makes it possible to meet the Euro VI requirements which will be implemented in 2014. As the system is already available, manufacturers of cars and large vehicles can start developing and adjusting engines to meet the new regulations.
”We are very proud to show the minister a system which meets the legislation that will be implemented in 2014,” says Claus Hviid Christensen, Project Director in Topsoe’s Research and Development.
Three new catalysts Topsoe’s HEAT system reduces the amount of NOx from 12 g/kWh to the Euro VI requirement of
0.4-0.7 g NOx pr. kWh, a reduction of more than 95%.
”With three newly developed catalysts in our portfolio, we can achieve an exceptional reduction of nitrous gasses,” says Ioannis Gekas, Project Manager for Automotive Catalysts, Research and Development.
RetrofitTopsoe is currently developing a second version of the HEAT SCR system capable of being mounted onto all types of trucks. This means that existing diesel vehicles can be retrofitted with HEAT SCR, and thus in the near future be able to meet the regulations of Euro VI – and thereby contribute significantly to a cleaner environment.
A simple system”We have focused on finding a solution which gives engine and vehicle manufacturers the opportunity to meet the Euro VI requirements at a lower cost. The HEAT SCR system requires no motor adjustments, as the system can be used in combination with the existing Euro IV/V engine technology,” says Claus Hviid Christensen, Project Director in Research and Development.
