Innovative Mechanical Development Engineer for SOEC Hardware Development
Are you ready to be part of Topsoe’s carbon emission reduction mission?
About us
At Topsoe we’re leading the way in decarbonization, by supplying technology, catalysts, and services for the worldwide energy transition. It's a journey through science that we began over 80 years ago, with a philosophy to question the limits of possibility and inspire others to think further. Today, we’re a community of over 2,000 problem solvers who are working together to find the answers to the world's biggest challenges. So, whether your expertise is in engineering, operations or broader business roles, we’re all united by a desire to go solve.
Topsoe’s Power-to-X unit is a strategic lighthouse on our path to be the leading provider of carbon emission reduction technologies. We are now looking for a new colleague to join SOEC Hardware Development, where we develop some of the central building blocks for our SOEC electrolysis technology, which through its unmatched energy efficiency will play a major role in the green electrification of the chemical and refinery industry.
Your focus will be to develop and optimize novel SOEC electrolysis components from proper need clarification, through conceptualization and to detailing/realization. You will work with other product developers having a background in process or mechanical engineering, and you will also team up with experts within the fields of SOEC, CFD, FEA, DFM and materials science.
We are headquartered in Denmark and have offices and operations globally. Find out more at topsoe.com.
Who we’re looking for
- You are aware that effective development work is based on understanding the market need, thorough problem analysis and the identification of critical demands and criteria for the solution to be developed
- You understand that a good developer is objective, listens to other people’s ideas and always go for the best solution – not only her/his own solution
- You often curiously investigate how a product has been made, which materials and fabrication processes were used and how it precisely works
- You often wonder, “how could this be done smarter?” rather than “how is this done”.
We believe product development yields the best results when we work together in teams, building on each other’s strengths. However, you are also very independent and proactive when it comes to planning your work, achieving knowledge, and building network.
Responsibilities
- Development of SOEC hardware components
- Vendor collaboration about manufacturing processes
- Test activities to gain knowledge needed for stack component design or to test function of prototypes
- Trouble shooting and root cause analysis.
What you’ll bring
- Are passionate about development work
- Are seeing opportunities instead of limitations
- Are a motivated and creative person, who can drive progress
- Aim to deliver the best possible outcome in a pragmatic way
- Have a solid personal impact with the ability to collaborate on many levels across the organization
- Thrives when challenged by not knowing the immediate way forward
- Are curious and have a clearly innovative mindset.
Qualifications
- Hold a master’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar
- Have more than 5 years’ experience with challenging product development of mechanical components
- Have good knowledge of structural mechanics, fluid mechanics and materials science
- Broad knowledge on manufacturing processes – both traditional and advanced
- Are a skilled user of 3D CAD
- Have a strong theoretical background in engineering disciplines.
Why join us
Our team is made up of passionate individuals who take pride in their work and come together to solve complex problems. We're not just any company - we're driven by a strong purpose to combat climate change by reducing emissions. Be a part of our ambitious, yet fun-loving organization and help make a positive impact on the world.
Your future colleagues are genuinely interested in each other as well as their craftmanship. And if you want to involve yourself outside of the workplace, you can take part in one of Topsoe’s many social clubs.
