Principal Technical Service Engineer

Experienced Chemical Engineer to support Refinery customers on global scale

Haldor Topsoe is an international company in rapid development. Headquarters are based in Denmark, but the vast majority of our highly specialized catalysts and products are sold to industrial plants throughout the world. We now offer a position as Principal Technical Service Engineer in our Global Hydrocracking Technical Sales & Service Group, where we support the sale of catalysts and technologies that can help our customers in producing environmentally friendly fuels to lower the impact on the environment from the utilization of hydrocarbon based fuels.

In this role, you will be involved in the technical part of the catalyst sales process preparing technical proposals and performance evaluations for our customers’ hydrocracking units. You will participate in internal projects to improve our calculation tools and be part of project teams designing and revamping hydrocracking units. You will be part of a multicultural team that also provides specialized technical services on-site at our refinery customers’ premises with focus on their hydrocracking units, and you will do this together with more than 80 dedicated colleagues within the commercial organization as well as with colleagues from R&D, Global Supply unit and regional offices. You will be in a continuous dialogue with refineries to provide solutions and required support to their needs, which includes on-site visits with account managers. You may also participate as speaker in seminars, external training courses and webinars.

Your responsibilities

  • Prepare technical proposals and reports for customers in close cooperation with Account Managers
  • Advise customers on optimizing their operation and use of catalysts
  • Participate as expert in seminars and meetings with customers
  • Support our Account Managers in technical meetings
  • Occasionally supervise catalyst loading and unit start-up at refineries worldwide 
  • Create effective cooperation across cultural and educational boundaries
  • Travel between 40 and 60 days per year on technical service trips with a duration of typically one to two weeks or 1-2 days customer visits along with the Account Manager.
  • Participate in the development of new calculation tools and correlations.

You have a degree in chemical engineering, chemistry or similar. Preferably you have more than five years process experience from the refining industry within Hydrocracking or other relevant experience. The challenges we offer will match your level of experience.
