About the Team

Topsoe is in a state of rapid development, and we have embarked on an ambitious and exciting journey to transform renewable electricity, biomass and waste into green hydrogen and other e-fuels, which is critical to reduce our customers’ carbon emissions. To support this journey, we are strengthening our core business area by increasing financial transparency in existing production facilities in Frederikssund and Bayport.

SUMMARY:

Provides Instrument and Electrical expertise in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing all applicable equipment in the plant while ensuring that safety requirements are fulfilled within unit. 

 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Instrument Technician 

 

1) Performs sequence of testing and calibration program for instruments and equipment according to schematics, technical manuals, and other specifications.  Typical instrumentation to be maintained and/or calibrated includes pressure, flow, and temperature.

2) Performs preventative and corrective maintenance of test apparatus and peripheral equipment.

3) Confers with engineers, supervisor, and other technical workers to assist with equipment installation, maintenance, and repair techniques.

4) Sets up test equipment and conducts tests on performance and reliability of electrical, electronic, or electromechanical equipment.

5) Disassembles and reassembles instruments and equipment, using hand tools, and inspects instruments and equipment for defects.

6) Verifies performance and operation of component parts and circuitry to specifications, using test equipment and precision instruments.

 

Electrical Technician

1) Troubleshoots electrical equipment including control circuitry as well as primary movers.  Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. With only three exceptions, primary movers are at 480 volts or less.  Control circuits are at 120 volts or less.

 

2) Performs routine maintenance on electrical equipment such as checking and replacing brushes on DC motors, using thermal imaging equipment to detect hot spots on equipment, performing housekeeping duties in motor control centers, and replacing faulty lighting equipment.

 

3) Assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
 

4) Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.

 

5) Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.

6) Installs ground leads and connects power cables to equipment, such as motors.

 

7) Installs conduit and pulls insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits.
 

8) Advises management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
 

9) Performs physically demanding tasks, such as running conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects.
 

10) Works from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Journeyman Instrument Technician skill level or equivalent experience in a chemical plant or refinery environment. 
  • Journeyman Electrical Technical skill level or have equivalent experience in a chemical plant or refinery environment.
