Research Engineer for Solide Oxide Development

Topsoe’s Power-to-X unit is a strategic lighthouse on our path to be the leading provider of carbon emission reduction technologies. We are a fast-growing organization developing our own proprietary solid oxide electrolysis technology and we need an experienced research engineer within our R&D department for developing the conditioning and reduction process of our SOEC stacks, and its implication for product quality and lifetime. The conditioning and reduction process is the first heat up of assembled pristine components, including sealing of the stack, enabling of contact between the stack components, activation of the fuel electrode and quality assurance of the produced stack. 

The goal is to have an optimized process ready for operation in large-scale production, which requires technical evaluation of design choices and validation test campaigns of proposed solutions. We work closely with the pilot production, the product development group, sub-suppliers and business developers. 

Your role

  • Technical specialist in conditioning and reduction processes
  • Development of optimized conditioning and reduction profiles including upgrade of existing equipment in collaboration with test technicians, pilot plant operators and stack and component experts from the development team
  • Transfer learnings to the design of units for large-scale production
  • Collaborate with sub-suppliers to develop optimized solutions
  • Evaluate and implement quality assessment of full stacks
  • Participate in design and start-up of new units for development and production
  • Technical support to our production plant after hand-over.

You

Your background

  • You have a technical background within relevant fields of engineering or natural sciences and preferably hold a PhD relevant for the above-described tasks
  • Preferably you have extensive experience in an R&D environment working in bench og pilot scale
  • You exercise a hands-on approach when it comes to laboratory work
  • Have experience with developing the solid oxide full stack conditioning and reduction process and/or SOC stack test and QA methods (e.g. EIS, U/I tests and other).
