Topsoe’s Power-to-X unit is a strategic lighthouse on our path to be the leading provider of carbon emission reduction technologies. As it stands today, there is currently no aftermarket service function, this is a greenfield opportunity that will require building from the ground up. The company has ambition that this function could generate more than 50% of total revenue and will be responsible for considerable portion of the bottom line.

Who we’re looking for
The Head of Engineering, as a member of the Power to X entity, reports to the Head of Services. You will be responsible for engineering performance, process alignment, methodology and best practices implementation. You will be responsible for supporting the definition and implementation of the overall service Engineering strategy, its organization, and its integration within Power to X division as well as Topsoe as a whole.


In your function, you will manage your engineering resources, be responsible for maintaining customers’ assets to the highest Operational Reliability in line with the requirements and in accordance with Topsoe's Technical Standards and Financial interests on a relevant scope of activity.

As a member of aftermarket management member, the candidate accountability is:

  • Develop key strategic customer relationships especially with technical/engineering management organizations
  • Put in place and run a department operating model allowing control of business activities (performance, risk…) and associated resources
  • Develop the procedures for the engineering team in collaboration with the quality team 
  • Foster the development and implementation of standardized processes, methods, and tools to improve efficiency and the quality of activities performed
  • Develop in collaboration with Industrialization and IT a maintenance engineering tool.

Driving anticipated identification and improvement of Power to X top critical technical issues:

  • Manage exchange, communication, prioritization, and escalation of issues within aftermarket operations team
  • Manage the interface with aftermarket supply chain team to address escalated technical issues and queries in coordination with Procurement
  • Manage the interface with RD and product team to address escalated technical issues in coordination with them
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, new products/programs and current product development/optimization.

Development of technical service desk:
Set up the second level response in back to the ops desk for technical queries.


Development of Tools for engineering and maintenance activities:

  • Develop with IT team the tool needed to perform predictive maintenance
  • Develop the tooling strategy and need for special tools
  • Analyze the results of digital tool and give inputs to ops team for rapid intervention
  • Test/implement the available solutions, to feedback on benefits and added values.

Development of the maintenance and engineering manuals, define maintenance strategy:

  • Write and develop the repair, maintenance, and spares manuals for the customers in collaboration with quality team
  • Work with industrialization team to define the list of sparable and consumables items
  • Be a key stake holder during product definition and industrialization to ensure that the maintenance of the product can be executed and that the cost is kept accordingly -e.g., ensure easy access to components for replacement
  • Be interface with RD at product concept phase to ensure product maintainability
  • Give inputs to supply chain on what is needed for products which are not under TOPSOE IP if they are part of the service agreement contractually
  • Work with ops team to ensure consistency between in the field issue and documentation.

Technical skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum degree holder in Engineering in chemical industry 
  • Minimum 9 years of managerial experience with strong leadership and multicultural skills
  • Minimum 9 years of relevant experience in oil and gas chemical in a maintenance engineering position
  • Great organizational skills, flexibility managing multiple priorities, ability to work with changing deadlines, and attention to details.
