Senior Technology Engineer - Hydroprocessing
About us
Topsoe is the leading global supplier of sustainable process technologies and catalysts for refineries and chemical processing plants – a position achieved through a unique combination of research, design, sales, and production. We are also heavily engaged in developing solutions for decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors such as steel, cement, chemicals, shipping and aviation. Our solutions produce essential renewable fuels, energy carriers, and chemicals of the future. Our foundation is Topsoe’s market-leading and energy-efficient technologies and catalysts for the production of both traditional and renewable fuels and chemicals.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for an experienced process engineer with a minimum of 8 years of experience in process design and/or operation of major refinery technologies with some experience in Hydroprocessing technologies. Additionally, some technical and/or commercial understanding of licensing process technologies is required. This role is in Topsoe’s North America Technology Group which is responsible for a diverse range of activities in licensing Hydroprocessing technologies. Some of the activities include using PROII process simulations to create technology proposals, performing revamp studies on existing refinery assets, participating in PFD/PID/HAZOP reviews, travelling to refinery sites for operator training/start-ups/test-runs, supporting catalyst engineers in providing technical services to clients and any other process/support activities requested by the group manager.
Your responsibilities would be:
- Collaborating with all members of the technical, licensing and account management teams to create winning technology proposals through the development of optimal process solutions based upon the needs of customers from RFQs/ITBs.
- Generate technical proposals by creating and optimizing process simulations in PROII. Technical proposals include heat & material balances and basic equipment design specifications.
- Coordinating functional items across other engineering disciplines such as mechanical, cost estimating, equipment vendors and contractors during various stages of proposals.
- Participate in technical & commercial clarifications and addressing customers’ questions and comments.
- Conduct revamp studies on existing refinery units with the support of more experienced engineers.
- Support customers on-site during key document (PFD/PID) and HAZOP reviews, operator training and unit start-ups.
- Handling technical queries from clients during and after project execution.
- Facilitation of internal and external knowledge sharing and lessons learned.
- Prepare technical reports following the completion of revamp studies, start-ups, and performance guarantee test-runs.
- Contributing to the optimization of workflows and process development activities.
- Prepare and give presentations to internal and external audiences.
Competencies
You have a degree in Chemical Engineering and minimum 8 years of process unit design and/or operations experience working with Hydroprocessing/other refinery technologies. Your experience in technology licensing, unit start-ups and/or plant operation with specific experience in Hydroprocessing is a great advantage.
We are looking for personal drive and self-motivation. The ideal candidate has following:
- Expertise in process unit design and plant operation of Hydroprocessing technologies.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (PROII, HYSYS, UniSim, ProMax etc.) including catalyst calculations and conceptual designs for Hydroprocessing technologies.
- Good knowledge of and interest in developing new process designs and layouts.
- Proactively engage in continuous technical development to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
- Share our mission of delivering high quality engineering and best-in-class on-site support to our clients.
