    Job Category Engineering
    Deadline April 03, 2026

    Role and impact:

You will play a pivotal role in shaping Topsoe’s strategic direction by applying your life cycle assessment (LCA) skills and novel insights to accelerate the energy transition.

    Your main responsibilities will include:

    • Shape the direction of Topsoe’s work on LCA and sustainable solutions with special focus on energy transition technologies for hard to abate sectors
    • Completing, updating and automating LCAs to support sales, product development, communication, and decision making across other key areas of our business
    • Preparing LCAs and carbon footprint calculations for funding applications (e.g. EUIF)
    • Validating key sustainability related claims and ensuring proper documentation
    • Communicating LCA results, and facilitating understanding of LCA procedures and findings for both internal and external audiences (including training)
    • Conduct LCA screenings of internal improvement projects, e.g. related to circular economy

Your work will be a cornerstone of our market-driven sustainability approach and will influence decision-making across the organization.

    What you will bring:
You bring experience and passion for LCA and a strong academic background with a Master of Science or PhD in engineering and/or chemistry, complemented by in-depth knowledge of LCA related standards and regulations related to the energy sector and fuels.

You ideally have 5–10 years of experience applying life cycle thinking and producing, as well as communicating, third party reviewed, ISO 14040/14044 compliant LCAs in a corporate setting. Experience with both attributional and consequential LCA modeling is highly desirable, as well as familiarity with nonfinancial data management systems (e.g. SAP) and analytical tools such as Power BI and Python.

Your expertise includes understanding and application of key regulations, directives, and standards related to renewable energy and renewable fuels of biogenic and non-biogenic origin such as RED II, RED III and RFNBO in the European Union and similar regulations in United States, and other regions.

You excel at communicating complex results in a clear and accessible manner, even to those with limited LCA knowledge, and you are skilled at strategically combining multiple inputs to support efficient decision-making. Your stakeholder management abilities ensure buy-in across diverse groups, and you are adept at raising the visibility and strategic importance of sustainability within organizational processes.

    Why join us:
At Topsoe, you will have the chance to shape and advance our LCA strategy, setting both annual and long-term targets related to sustainable solutions. You will deliver and leverage third-party reviewed LCAs for key energy transition technologies for energy-intensive industries and long-distance transportation.

Your work will support the development of new tools for carbon footprint calculations, contribute to funding applications, and help integrate sustainability into our product development. You will also provide internal training, maintain our LCA knowledge base, and collaborate with teams across sales, marketing, and R&D. This is your opportunity to make a real impact on the energy transition in a supportive and innovative environment.

    Your new team:
You will become part of a specialized team of five people, in the Global Sustainability and External Affairs unit based at our headquarters in Lyngby.  You will work closely with our other LCA specialist and engage in cross-functional collaboration with team members specializing in social and environmental sustainability. This close-knit group values open communication, shared learning, and a strong commitment to advancing Topsoe’s sustainability agenda. Working alongside experts in Commercial, R&D, Global Supply Chain, and HSSE, you will help drive impactful change in a supportive and collaborative environment.

    How you can apply:
If you would like to be part of a team of skilled and professional colleagues in an informal organization, please submit your documents in English. Please contact Head of Sustainability, Mikkel Thrane, phone +45 2115 6260 if you want to know more about the position.
