    Regulations are getting tighter.

The steel and cement industries are major contributors to global gas emissions. And both are hard to abate. As standards become ever more stringent, our expertise in emissions management and waste conversion can help manufacturers meet legislation in a cost-efficient and sustainable way.

    Let’s lower emissions together.

    Topsoe and Metals & Cement

The steel industry and cement industry combined produce around 19%-¹ ² of global carbon dioxide emissions as well as a wide range of other air pollutants. Authorities in many countries are tightening emissions standards by reducing permissible levels of CO₂ while also adding new gases and particles to the list of regulated components.

Our comprehensive portfolio of emissions management solutions is optimized in terms of energy efficiency, catalyst performance, and total cost of ownership. Our technology can help you remove dust and pollutants, while also saving on costs.

Ultimately, switching to the use of blue hydrogen or green hydrogen across a wide range of production processes will make it possible to largely decarbonize both industries.

    Addressing your needs

The high-dust environments that are typical of steel and cement production can make it difficult to treat off-gases, but our catalytic solutions are designed to do just that. We can help you remove dust as well as NOₓ, dioxins, CO and different volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Nitrous oxide (N₂O) is a powerful greenhouse gas with 265 times the potential impact of CO₂, and the steel and chemical industries are major sources of emissions. Our targeted solution converts N₂O into harmless air, enabling you to achieve abatement costs far lower than normal CO₂ prices while minimizing your production’s practical environmental impact.

Cement manufacturing and metal smelting also produce large amounts of sulfur dioxide, which can cause acid rain. We’ll help you convert SO₂ off-gases into sulfuric acid for reuse or a new revenue stream, while also meeting requirements and reducing the risk of environmental damage.
