Blue methanol

Blue methanol incorporates carbon capture technology to enable CO₂ sequestration, making it a lower carbon intensity alternative to grey methanol. Due to the chemical structure of the methanol molecule, the carbon captured in the methanol product will eventually be emitted as CO₂, if used as a fuel.

Methanol (CH₃OH) has long been a keyproduct within the chemical industry. Methanol is for example included in the production of formaldehyde, acetic acid, and plastics. But its ability to be clean burning, readily biodegradable and easily stored, transported, and distributed in liquid form has put it on the map as a new alternative fuel source.
