Topsoe wins prestigious S&P Platts Global Energy award for Excellence in Chemicals

Topsoe, a leading global provider of advanced technology and solutions for the energy transition, has won an S&P Platts Global Energy Award in the Excellence in Chemicals category.

The award recognizes Topsoe’s outstanding achievements in advancing, “sustainable chemical solutions’ and driving innovation across the energy sector.”

The Platts Global Energy Awards, hosted annually by S&P Global Commodity Insights, honors organizations and individuals who have demonstrated excellence, leadership and innovation in the energy industry. Over 100 companies from around the world were nominated for awards across 21 categories. Topsoe beat out six other companies for the Excellence in Chemicals award.

Decades of driving innovation

Topsoe has been at the forefront of innovation since 1940. Over the last five years, Topsoe has transformed into a global leader in technology and solutions for the energy transition. Some of the highlights include:

Topsoe opened Europe’s largest Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cell (SOEC) manufacturing facility in Denmark in October of 2025. The facility will manufacture high-efficiency electrolysis stacks for industrial-scale green hydrogen production. The annual capacity is 500MW with the option to scale further. Drawing on more than three decades of refining SOEC technology, Topsoe’s SOEC is engineered for the highest efficiency of green hydrogen production at the lowest levelized cost.

In October of 2025, Topsoe announced that it will be the technology partner to Forestal del Atlantico’s Triskelion e-methanol project in Galicia, Spain. Topsoe will provide its SOEC technology to Forestal. Topsoe will also be the technology provider for First Ammonia. A U.S. based developer of green ammonia. The two companies signed a 5GW reservation agreement for Topsoe’s SOEC technology.

Topsoe also advanced eREACT™ a novel technology for production of low-carbon hydrogen and fuels. The heart of the technology is an innovative electrified reactor design, which can convert a variety of feedstocks into low-carbon hydrogen or other chemicals and fuels.

With the eREACT™ technology it is possible to develop new production routes combining renewable electricity and natural gas while greatly reducing flue gas emissions. Due to its versatility, the technology has the potential to play an important role in the global transition to a low-carbon economy.

Topsoe and Aramco signed a joint development agreement in November of 2024 to produce low-carbon hydrogen using Topsoe’s innovative eREACT™ technology at plant in Saudi Arabia.
