    Principal Mechanical Engineer for Global Service

    Role and impact:

    As Principal Mechanical Engineer for Global Service, you will play a pivotal role in supporting strategically important customers within your designated region(s), focusing on those with priority agreements and high-value partnerships. Your responsibilities will include:

    • Supporting strategically important customers globally, with particular focus on selected regions and key accounts
    • Acting as a key participant in troubleshooting complex mechanical cases, ensuring swift and effective resolution of technical challenges.
    • Providing technical input to sales teams and actively participating in relevant sales activities.
    • Building and maintaining extensive knowledge of Topsoe’s design principles, technologies, and their performance—including competitor technologies—and sharing these insights with stakeholders such as Technology Product Managers (TPMs).
    •  Using your expertise to develop, maintain, and execute related services, acting as a technical sparring partner for the organization and engaging in unique technical challenges.
    • Ensuring robust knowledge-sharing across the organization, connecting regional offices and collaborating with Global Service and Research & Development teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

     

    Your role will have a significant impact on both customer satisfaction and the continuous development of Topsoe’s mechanical service offerings, making you a central figure in our global service team.

     

    What you will bring:

    You bring a strong background in mechanical engineering, ideally with hands-on experience in the chemical or petrochemical industries. Your qualifications include:

    • High proficiency with project and technical documentation.
    • Strong familiarity with industry standards related to corrosion, materials, and mechanical design
    • Advanced knowledge of equipment and technologies from the petrochemical industry, with the ability to represent the company in meetings with diverse stakeholders such as customers, fabricators and EPCs.
    • Strong presentation, and technical report writing skills.
    • Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) is an advantage.
    • Knowledge of typical damage mechanisms in the petrochemical industry.
    • A general understanding of catalyst-based processes and relevant Topsoe technologies is an advantage.
    • Willingness to travel as needed to support customers and projects globally (approximately 60-80days a year).

    Experience in site maintenance, equipment service, rotating and pressurized equipment, and plant operations and maintenance will be highly valued. Your ability to collaborate across teams and drive technical excellence will set you apart.

You are comfortable working with customers and colleagues from different backgrounds, adapt easily to diverse environments, and build trust through respectful communication and collaboration. This enables you to represent Topsoe effectively at customer sites across the globe.
