    Senior Portfolio Risk Manager

    The role and impact
    A portfolio risk manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the risks associated with a portfolio of diverse and complex projects in a large EPCM organisation.

    The portfolio risk manager will work closely with the project managers, the project teams, and the enterprise risk management function to ensure that the risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, monitored, and reported throughout the project lifecycle.

    The portfolio risk manager will Aldo establish and maintain the risk management structures, processes, and templates for the portfolio, and provide training and guidance to the project managers and the project teams on risk management best practices.

    The portfolio risk manager will also conduct regular audits and reviews of the risk management activities and outcomes, and escalate any significant risks to the appropriate level of management.

     

    Tasks and deliveries:

    • Developing and implementing the risk management framework, methodology, and tools for the portfolio of projects, in alignment with the organisational standards and policies.
    • Defining and communicating the risk management roles and responsibilities for the portfolio, and ensuring that they are clearly understood and followed by the project managers and the project teams.
    • Facilitating and supporting the identification, analysis, evaluation, and treatment of risks for each project, and ensuring that the risk registers are updated and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Preparing and presenting the risk reports and dashboards for the portfolio, and providing insights and recommendations on the risk status, trends, and issues.
    • Conducting regular risk audits and reviews for the portfolio, and verifying the effectiveness and compliance of the risk management activities and outcomes.
    • Identifying and escalating any significant or emerging risks to the enterprise risk management function and the senior management, and facilitating the development and implementation of risk response plans.
    • Providing training and coaching to the project managers and the project teams on risk management principles, processes, and tools, and promoting a risk-aware culture within the portfolio.
    • Keeping abreast of the latest developments and best practices in risk management, and ensuring that the portfolio risk management framework, methodology, and tools are updated and improved accordingly.

    Required Competencies and experiences

    • A bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, project management, business administration, or a related field.
    • A minimum of five years of experience in risk management, preferably in a large EPCM organisation or a similar environment.
    • A proven track record of managing risks for a portfolio of diverse and complex projects, ranging from small to large CAPEX projects, customer projects, and feasibility studies.
    • A strong knowledge and understanding of the project management lifecycle, methodologies, and standards, and the ability to apply them to different types of projects.
    • A certification or accreditation in risk management, such as PMI-RMP, IRM, or CRMA, or the willingness to obtain one.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate with various stakeholders at different levels of the organisation.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, and the ability to handle uncertainty and ambiguity.
    • High attention to detail, quality, and accuracy, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Proficiency in using risk management software, tools, and systems, such as Primavera Risk Analysis, @Risk, or RiskyProject.
