PureStep is a chemical recycling technology that removes impurities like silicon, phosphorus, heteroatoms, halogens, and more, from pyrolysis oil made from low-grade mixed waste and polishes its properties to match your feedstock specification. Decontaminating and refining pyrolysis oil with PureStep turns it into on-spec naphtha, which can be used directly in a steam cracker as feedstock for new, circular plastic including contact sensitive materials.

Why Topsoe

To create PureStep™, we combined two of our strongest industry-leading capabilities, hydroprocessing and catalysis, to develop a groundbreaking solution. We’ve invested more than a decade of pioneering research in circular plastics to understand plastic pyrolysis oil, and to purpose-develop catalysts to target the particular challenges of this new feedstock. As a result, we’ve established ourselves as leaders in providing upgrading solutions for the chemical recycling of plastic waste.
