Senior leadership team

Roeland Baan joined Topsoe as President and CEO in 2020 with a clear focus on establishing the company as a leader in technologies and solutions for the energy transition. He is leading the company’s nearly 3,000 employees across a dozen countries in rewriting the future of fuels production.

Roeland engages in dialogues and forums with other key opinion leaders to identify and deploy solutions that enable the global energy transition. He often shares his perspectives on matters ranging from decarbonization of energy-intensive industries to electrolyzer capacity, new technologies that support carbon emission reductions, and the challenges and regulatory frameworks needed to achieve a fair and inclusive green energy transition.   

Roeland has more than 40 years of experience developing businesses, supporting customer relationships, driving growth, building cohesive organizations and amassing deep operational and strategic knowledge across the energy, fuel and steel industries. Prior to joining Topsoe, he was President and CEO of Outokumpu, a producer of stainless steel, and before that CEO of rolled and extruded products at aluminum manufacturer Aleris. Roeland also held leadership positions at Arcelor Mittal, SHV NV and Shell.   

He serves as Chairman of SBM Offshore NV and is member of the Syensqo Board of Directors and the Hydrogen Council Board.  

Roeland earned a M.S. in economics from Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam.

Allan Bødskov Andersen is Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Topsoe. As a member of the company’s Senior Leadership Team, he is responsible for all financial functions, including strategic financial planning and reporting, treasury, investor relations and risk management, as well as IT and Facility Management.  

Allan is a highly experienced, purpose-driven leader who brings a deep commercial mindset and a focus on driving growth and investments in technologies and solutions enabling net zero. He leads a team that works across the organization and together with customers and partners to create value, manage risks, and support their decarbonization journey.  

With more than 25 years of experience in both the private and public sectors, Allan has an extensive background in treasury, funding, capital planning, risk management, insurance, and investor relations. Before joining Topsoe, Allan was the Group CFO of DLF Group. He also served as CFO Onshore and Head of Investor Relations at Ørsted, where he had been part of the finance division since 2006 and was responsible for the financial aspects of wind, solar and energy storage projects in Europe, US, and Asia. Prior to that, he served as Advisor at the central bank of Denmark.  

Allan earned an M.Sc. in Economics and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Aarhus, Denmark.  

Elena Scaltritti is Chief Commercial Officer of Topsoe. In her role, Elena works closely with customers and partners to help them achieve their decarbonization and emission reduction goals. 

As a member of Topsoe’s Senior Leadership Team, Elena brings unique insights on new market demands, industry trends and innovative technologies. She is responsible for the company’s commercial offerings across existing and emerging markets around the world.  

Elena is a member of the World Refining Association’s Conference advisory board and a leading industry voice on decarbonization of energy-intensive industries and long-distance transportation, with a special focus on sustainable aviation fuels to decarbonize aviation.  

Before joining Topsoe in 2022, Elena served as Executive Vice President at SONGWON Industrial Group, where she was responsible for global commercial activities. She also held leadership roles with BASF, Cipa Specialty Chemicals and Nalco Holding Company. 

Elena earned a B.S. in organic chemistry from the University of Milan and an M.B.A. from the POLIMI School of Management in Milan.  

Kim Hedegaard is Chief Executive Officer of Power-to-X (PtX), Topsoe’s industry-leading solution that converts renewable energy into e-fuels for customers. He is responsible for PtX strategy, commercialization, technology development and production, and is a member of the company’s Senior Management Team. 

Kim leads the team executing Topsoe’s trailblazing work to scale the innovative Solide Oxide Electrolyzer Cell (SOEC) technology and PtX solutions to produce green hydrogen, ammonia and other e-fuels. He works closely with customers, industry partners and policy makers to help develop and scale this breakthrough technology to drive the energy transition forward.   

As of January 1, 2025, Kim took over the co-chairmanship role of the Renewable Hydrogen Coalition, a leading European platform promoting the critical role of renewable hydrogen in delivering the EU's long-term decarbonization goals. The coalition brings together a high-level, interdisciplinary network of start-ups, investors, entrepreneurs, innovative companies, and industrial off-takers, all dedicated to making Europe the global leader in renewable hydrogen solutions.

He serves as a board member at FlexHospital and AmCham Denmark. 

Kim joined Topsoe in 1999 and has more than 25 years of experience in engineering, business management and sales. Prior to his current role, he served as Topsoe’s Chief Operating Officer and was in charge of Global Supply. 

Kim earned an M.S. in chemical engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.  

Amy Chiang is Topsoe’s Chief Sustainability and External Affairs Officer. As a part of Topsoe’s Senior Leadership Team, she oversees both the company’s external efforts to accelerate the energy transition and its internal sustainability strategy. Amy’s leadership responsibilities span Sustainability, Public Affairs, Product Stewardship, Communications and Branding, and Public-Private Partnerships.   

For more than 25 years, Amy has been a leading expert in aligning public policy, business strategy and innovation to help drive the energy transition. Working in both the public and private sectors, she has built enduring partnerships and forged working relationships that have helped shape global policy changes and business strategies that have been the foundation of progress over the last few decades.   

Amy served as Director of International Affairs in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, where she guided efforts around creating breakthrough international agreements. She was Deputy Chief of Staff to U.S. Representative Sherwood Boehlert and a professional staff member in the House Science Committee.   

 She spent more than a decade in the private sector, leading global government relations strategy in areas including sustainability, climate change, global trade and technology. In addition, she has worked in management consulting and on Wall Street as a currency derivatives trader.    

Amy earned a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an International MBA (IMBA) from the University of Chicago.   

Andreas Bruun Jørgensen is Chief Operating Officer of Topsoe. He also is a member of Topsoe’s Senior Leadership Team. 

Andreas has end-to-end responsibility for Topsoe’s global operations, product delivery and supply chain. This includes the company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Denmark and the U.S., driving overall operations management and improvements in efficiency, quality and delivery performance. The responsibility for project and hardware execution to deliver Topsoe’s technology solutions with decarbonization and carbon emission reduction lies with Andreas. Andreas also is deeply involved in Topsoe’s internal sustainability journey to reach net zero across its entire value chain by 2040. 

Andreas joined Topsoe in 2010 as a process engineer and has held leadership roles in engineering and operations. Andreas began his career as a process engineer at FLSmidth, a mining and cement technology company.  

He earned an M.S. in chemical engineering from the Technical University of Denmark. 

Jesper Nerlov is Chief Technology Officer, where he oversees global research and development to help accelerate the development of technologies that enable net zero and the implementation of Topsoe’s decarbonization solutions with its clients.  

Jesper serves on the Senior Leadership Team and leads a global team of scientists and engineers focused on bringing innovative technologies to market and ensuring that the solutions it delivers to clients enable them to meet their operational and long-term decarbonization goals. 

He is member of the Chairmanship of the Danish Environment Technology Association and a Board Representative at the Technical University of Denmark. He also sits on the Committee for Research and Education in the Confederation of Danish Industry, serves on the Advisory Board for Science at the University of Copenhagen and is on the Board of Environmental Development and Demonstration program under Ministry of Environment and Food of Denmark. 

Jesper earned a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Copenhagen.  

Kim is the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer of Topsoe. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, he is responsible for developing and executing on the company’s strategic growth roadmap to deliver technologies and solutions to customers that enable them to meet their emission reduction and decarbonization goals.  

As a leading expert on breakthrough technologies and solutions in the energy space, Kim speaks regularly at leading forums around the world. Kim also is a member of the advisory boards of the Danish Energy Industries Federation, Danish business think tank Axcelfuture and Denmark’s Department of Energy Conversion and Storage. He holds several patents and is the author or co-author of more than 55 published technical papers. 

Kim joined Topsoe in 1996, eventually becoming the Vice President of Research and Development, and later Chief Executive Officer and Head of Business Units prior to taking on his current role.  

He was a Research Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark, where he also received an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.  

Lene Ramm is Group General Counsel of Topsoe. She serves on the company’s Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for overseeing and managing all legal matters, including corporate governance, intellectual property and compliance.  

Lene is an expert in understanding and navigating the complex laws and regulations that govern the global energy transition. As a key business partner, she supports strategic decision making across new business models and partnerships that are key to helping the world reach net zero.  

Before joining Topsoe in 2003, Lene was an attorney with Danish law firm Kromann Reumert and as Head of Section in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  

She earned an M.A. in law from the University of Copenhagen and a supplementary degree in business administration and management from Columbia Business School. 

Morten Holm Christiansen is Chief Transformation Officer of Topsoe. As a member of the company’s Senior Leadership Team, he has broad responsibilities across Corporate Strategy, IT, Digital and Business Excellence, leading the company’s transformation and driving innovations and technologies to deliver new efficiencies and increased value for our customers. 

Since joining Topsoe in 2021, Morten has helped reshape the company’s digital strategy, implementing innovative solutions including the use of generative AI tools that expand capabilities and enhance support to customers and partners. He also led a significant retooling of the company’s IT platforms and organization to support sustainable growth in the business. 

He is Chairman of the CIO Transformation Board at the Danish ICT Industry Association and a board member at Albert Sounit SRL.   

Morten came to Topsoe with a long record of proven success in leadership positions at Maersk, COOP and Novo Nordisk.  

He earned a M.S. in business economics from the University of Aarhus, Denmark, and an Executive MBA from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Switzerland.  

Peter Kirkegaard is Chief Human Resources Officer of Topsoe. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, he is responsible for developing and executing the company’s global people strategy, including talent acquisition, employee development, culture and engagement.  

Since joining Topsoe in 2021, Peter has been ensuring that Topsoe delivers on its ambitions to secure an engaged, collaborative and well-performing global organization with a diverse and inclusive work environment. Creating an inspiring workplace with focus on people’s development supports Topsoe ‘s ability to deliver on its ambitions as a leader in the energy transition.  

Peter is a member of the Board of Science City Lyngby and member of the Confederation of Danish Industries’ Global Talent Advisory Board. Peter also serves as a member of the reference group of the interdisciplinary research Center, Crown Prince Frederik Center for Public Leadership, at Aarhus University.   

Prior to Topsoe, Peter served at coatings manufacturer Hempel as Executive Vice President, Chief People and Culture Officer. Before that, he was a Partner at Accenture leading their Human Performance and Finance & Performance Management service lines. 

Peter earned an M.A. in political and social science from the University of Aarhus, Denmark, an M.A. in international relations from the University of Reading, U.K., and completed executive courses in leadership and board training from IMD and Copenhagen Business School.
