Student Assistant - Mechanical Design in SOEC Stack Development

    Location Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark
    Job Category Administration
    Deadline September 18, 2025

    The role and impact
As a Student Assistant in SOEC Stack Development, you will play a vital role in supporting our team as we advance new solutions for solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) technology.

Your daily tasks will include both hands-on laboratory work and office work, such as conducting measurements, photo documentation, and supporting the execution of test plans. You will analyze data from stack, stack component and material tests, contributing to the continuous improvement of our testing methodologies and data analysis.

Your work will directly impact the quality and speed of our research and development efforts, and you will collaborate closely with colleagues in both the laboratory and pilot production environments.

    What you’ll bring
You are currently pursuing an engineering degree and have demonstrated strong results in material technology and mechanical analysis. You approach tasks systematically, maintain a high standard of quality, and communicate fluently in English. Eager to learn, you excel both independently and as part of a team, contributing to continuous improvements in our testing processes.

With hands-on laboratory experience, at best including material and ceramics testing, you bring valuable practical skills to the table. Knowledge of fuel cells or electrolysers is considered an advantage, as is experience with structural mechanics simulations using the finite element method (FEM).

    Why join us
In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute directly to the development of a key technology driving the green transition. You will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment, working with cutting-edge solutions integrated into a robust design. This is your chance to be part of the journey towards creating the world’s most advanced and efficient solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) system.

At Topsoe, we’re problem solvers. In every role, across every office, you’ll find people passionate about finding the right answers. For over 80 years, we’ve been pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, always focused on solving some of the world’s biggest challenges together. We believe great results start with collaboration and respect, where every idea is heard and can drive real change. You’ll join a team of dedicated experts, united by a commitment to perfecting our craft and delivering real impact. We don’t just promise change – we make it happen. And with your contributions, we’re shaping a more sustainable future with solutions that truly matter.

We prioritize the safety and well-being of our employees and are committed to maintaining a safe work environment where everyone looks out for each other's health and safety.

    Your new team
You will join a dynamic, solution-driven team of seven dedicated professionals with key focus on the mechanics of our SOEC stacks and collaborate closely with other expert teams within Topsoe Power-to-X, expanding your mechanical knowledge base and playing a vital role in solving key technical challenges. This position offers a stimulating learning environment and the chance to make a real impact on sustainable technology.

Your working time will be 7-15 hours per week.

    How you can apply
If you would like to be part of a team of skilled and professional colleagues in an informal organization, please submit your documents in English.

Please contact Niels Bjørn Clausen, Senior Manager, SOEC Stack Development, phone +45 2440 0540, email nicl@topsoe.com, if you want to know more about the position.

    Application deadline: September 18th, 2025.

We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, irrespective of their gender, age, religion, disability, ethnic background, and geographical location. We encourage individuals from diverse cultures and countries to apply and contribute to our global team.
