Landfills around the world attest to the need for more sustainable plastic. The world currently produces around 400 million tonnes of plastic waste every year. That’s because half of all plastic produced is designed for single-use purposes – used just once and then thrown away. And around 98% of single-use plastic products are produced from petrochemicals or virgin feedstock.¹
As a result, the polymers and plastics industry is increasingly moving towards a circular economy model, emphasizing recycling, reuse, and sustainable design. This includes developing biodegradable and recyclable plastics to reduce environmental impact.
Our PureStep™ solution offers the chance to reuse mixed waste plastic as feedstock for steam crackers. The plastic is converted via a liquefaction process to an oil. This oil is purified and then used as feedstock for a new, circular plastic product.
What’s more, it can integrate easily and effectively with your existing operation.
