HELPING YOU OPTIMIZE

DOING ALL WE CAN, FOR ALL WE CAN

Clean industry is about more than decarbonization: we need to provide future generations with a planet supported by the smartest fuel and chemical production. This means improving not only tomorrow’s solutions but also those that took humanity this far. And we’ve done that for nearly a century.

Sustainable innovation defines the global energy transition, but it’s important to optimize the environmental impact of conventional solutions, too. Your industry may need time to transition to full sustainability, but your customers – and the people they serve – still need a livable world. The technologies and catalysts across our Clean Air, Chemical Processing, and Hydroprocessing portfolios are what make it possible.

Regardless of your industry, Topsoe remains fully committed to helping you answer the world’s most critical needs through the most environmentally friendly production possible. And as you make your way into the renewable era, we’ll be there to lend a hand, as well.

Processes

We design, engineer and license a broad range of processes for chemical processing, hydroprocessing and emissions management.

With over 150 different catalysts, and the capability to design and manufacture bespoke catalysts and equipment for specific tasks, each process is guaranteed to perform optimally.

Chemical Processing

Ammonia Producing ammonia at the lowest cost per ton is a challenge many industries face every day. With almost 80 years of experience in ammonia, our industry-leading solutions ensure reliable and safe operation with the lowest ...
Dimethyl Ether Maximizing the economic potential of a dimethyl ether plant requires that all types of methanol can be processed optimally. We enable this for our customers by designing processes and catalysts that can operate with ...
Synthetic Fuels Whether you have gas reserves or renewable energy sources and CO2, there are opportunities opening up for synthetic fuels for the transportation sector. Conversion of these energy sources into liquid fuels represents ...
Hydrogen Hydrogen is an essential element in a broad range of industries, such as chemical, refining, and steel. As a result, the cost-efficient and stable production of high purity hydrogen are vital to the profitability of many businesses ...
Methanol Demand for methanol is driving producers to seek the greater yields and economies of scale that only larger plants can provide. As a result, 10,000 MTPD methanol plant layouts will likely soon be the new industry ...
RNG Profitable production of high quality, clean substitute natural gas demands the most energy-efficient process possible combined with a high utilization of natural resources. Our proven TREMP™ process, when ...
Sulfuric Acid Whether you produce sulfuric acid from elemental sulfur or from SO2 regenerate spent sulfuric acid or clean sulfurous gases, we have the optimal solution.
Syngas High plant availability, energy efficiency, and feedstock flexibility are essential for ensuring the best performance in syngas for GTL and chemical production.

Hydroprocessing

Catalyst Poison Removal The single most important factor for hydroprocessing unit profitability is the length of time your catalyst remains active. No matter how high a catalyst’s start-of-run activity is, if it deactivates more rapidly than expected, your unit performance will suffer and profits will drop.
Hydrocracking Today, refineries have to produce more high-quality transportation fuels from heavier streams, while also improving profit margins. Our single-source supply of all the key elements of a hydrocracking unit comprising hydrocracker pretreatment, hydrocracking and grading catalysts, technology licensing.
Hydrotreating Refineries around the world are striving to meet growing demands for cleaner fuels, while ensuring cost-efficient operations. Getting the greatest value out of crude oil and effectively processing all the fractions – from very light gas and naphtha to residue – can be challenging.
Lube Oil Processing In lube oil processing, a final hydrofinishing step is required to improve the product’s physicochemical properties and ensure that color and stability specifications are met.
Petrochemical Processing A changing market drives petrochemical complexes to implement new processes, develop new catalysts and integrate refinery and petrochemicals operations, in order to get even more value out of a wide range of feedstocks.
Pressure Drop Control Pressure drop caused by particles in the feed or crust build-up in catalyst beds can put any refinery at risk of an unplanned shutdown. This is never good news because maximum on-stream time and uninterrupted cycle lengths are critical for meeting refinery production targets and revenue goals.
Unconventional Feeds Today’s transportation fuel market is changing in response to new sources or feed stock, political incentives, stricter emission controls and popular support for more environmentally sound solutions.

Air emission control

Catalytic Particulate Filtration In certain industries dust, soot and other particulates in off-gases are a problem that need special consideration. We enable our customers to combine particulate filtration with our other emission management systems, where the combination can reduce complexity and total cost of ownership.
Nitrous Oxide Removal Nitrous oxide - N2O - is a powerful greenhouse gas with a global warming potential of 298 CO2 equivalents.Topsoe catalysts for N2O decomposition enable you to achieve abatement costs that are significantly lower than normal CO2 prices, while keeping any practical impact on your production process to a bare minimum.
NOx and CO Removal Meeting emission standards without compromising performance or profitability is a challenge facing many industries. For stationary applications our solutions are highly effective, offering reduction efficiencies up to 99% with maximum reliability, even when operating under severe conditions.
Off-Gas Processing Off-gases formed at refineries often contain components such as diolefins, olefins, CO2, CO, hydrocarbons, H2S, and various organic sulfur species – all of which are harmful to the environment and subject to increasingly stricter regulations.
Sulfur Removal Sulfurous emissions standards are tightening worldwide, forcing industrial, chemical, refining, and metallurgical operations to compromise profitability to meet legal requirements. Sometimes a crystal-ball approach is needed when dealing with sulfurous emissions. Planning requires forward-thinking that takes both compliance and profitability into consideration.
VOC Removal Emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are now regulated almost everywhere. And legislation is only going to get more stringent. The question is how easily and affordably you can keep your operations compliant, with a reliable “license to operate”.
