RNG | COS Hydrolysis

In some process layouts, it is beneficial to reduce the amount of carbonyl sulfide (COS) before the process gas is sent to the Acid Gas Removal (AGR) unit. In the COS hydrolysis process step, part of the COS reacts with steam at a relatively low temperature. This converts the COS to hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide, which are easier to remove in the AGR.
