    Hydrogen industry

    Contact us today

    Hydrogen is in demand.

The gas is already used in many sectors. And the energy transition will lead to further growth in the industry, especially within the green and blue production pathways. Here at Topsoe, we have a range of proven technologies to help you meet your production requirements.

    Topsoe and the hydrogen industry

Blue and green hydrogen are already beginning to play a major role in the energy transition. Right now, the cost-efficient and stable production of high purity hydrogen is vital to the profitability of many businesses in a broad range of industries navigating this transition, including chemicals, refining and steel.

At Topsoe, we can help you produce hydrogen from natural gas and through electrolysis, using renewable electricity to split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. Our solutions are optimized to ensure the most reliable production of the highest purity hydrogen, using the least amount of energy and other resources.

Hydrogen is notoriously difficult to store and transport. Ammonia is an ideal hydrogen carrier, and our ammonia cracking solution offers an energy-efficient method for converting ammonia back into hydrogen.

    Addressing your needs

We have developed cost-efficient solutions for producing conventional production across a wide range of different capacities, as well as an integrated process specifically tailored for the renewable hydrocarbon feedstocks market.

All of our blue hydrogen technologies have incredibly low carbon intensity. Among all ultra-low carbon intensity technologies, SynCOR™ technology is by far the most mature technology in the market and gives an unparalleled economy of scale especially suited for production at mega scale and with high CO₂ recovery requirements.

Our electrified counterpart to the world’s most common production method, steam methane reforming (SMR), eREACT™, delivers ultra-low carbon intensity and a remarkable reduction of over 99% in CO2 emissions compared to traditional SMR.

Green hydrogen, produced by electrolysis using renewable electricity, paves the way for an energy system based on 100% renewable energy. Our high-temperature Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cell (SOEC) technology delivers up to 30% more green hydrogen from the same amount of renewable electricity, compared to standard technologies. We have just finished the construction of the EU’s first industrial-scale SOEC manufacturing capability in Denmark.
